Foldables are such a great way to help students remember what they learned. It is also a great resource that they can look back at if they need to.

Author's Purpose Foldables
This is a great way to help the students understand where they may find these types of author's purpose.

The students love activities where they get to create foldables. This foldable is very common in elementary school and a lot of students already know how to do it. The students are learning about author's purpose. The write a P (persuade), I (inform), E (entertain), and S (Share feelings) on the outside of the fortune tellers. On the first fold, the students will put the definitions of persuade, inform, entertain, and share feelings in two places. On the inside of the fortune teller, it will tell the answer to the definition.

Writing that tells you something- Inform

Writing that is for enjoyment- Entertain

Writing that convinces you - Persuade

Writing that shares the authors memories or experiences- Share Feelings

Fantastic!! I love this activity. My tactile learners will not only remember the objective, but also enjoy showing what they have learned! My students will make a second foldable which will show where/how these objectives are found/applied. I love this idea! THANKS!
